    On arrival at Colombo airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the coastal town of Negombo, a short drive from Colombo. The rest of the day is yours to explore.

    Travel to Sigiriya
    Day 2 Travel to Sigiriya

    Transfer to the heart of Sri Lanka’s ‘Cultural Triangle’, Sigiriya. The rest of the day is at leisure.

    Explore Sigiriya
    Day 3 Explore Sigiriya

    Discover the 5th century UNESCO-listed Rock Fortress, also known as ‘Lion Rock’, the spectacular citadel of King Kassappa, built on top of a rocky outcrop towering over the plain. Continue to Polonnaruwa, also UNESCO, a ruined city that was the capital of Sri Lanka in the 11th and 12th century which is full of magnificent stupas, frescoes and statues.

    Minneriya National Park
    Day 4 Minneriya National Park

    Take a morning safari through Minneriya National Park, home to elephants and many other native species. Explore Dambulla Rock Temple, a place of worship since the 1st century BC, and transfer to cultural capital Kandy.

    Day 5 Explore Kandy

    Tour this vibrant hill city, with a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of the most revered Buddhist sites in the world. This evening you will watch a cultural dance performance.

    Train to Nuwara Eliya
    Day 6 Train to Nuwara Eliya

    Transfer to Peradeniya and board the train to Nanu Oya for the hill station Nuwara Eliya. One of the most spectacular stretches of scenic railway in the world, pass through mountain valleys and lush tea plantations. Arrive in Nanu Oya, and transfer to Nuwara Eliya via a tea plantation.

    St Clair’s Falls
    Day 7  St Clair’s Falls

    Journey into the spectacular landscapes around Nuwara Eliya to see St Clair’s Falls, one of the most unique waterfalls in Sri Lanka. You can view the waterfalls from the road above or walk along a trail that winds through tea plantations to take a closer look. Return to the hotel and enjoy High Tea this afternoon.

    Travel to Colombo
    Day 8 Travel to Colombo

    Travel from Nuwara Eliya to Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital city, stopping for lunch en route.

    Spend the morning exploring Colombo’s Fort District and the surrounding merchant streets in the heart of Pettah. Visit a Hindu temple to see the elaborate stone carvings and the historic Dutch Wolvendaal Church. The rest of the day will be free for you to explore at leisure.
